The challenge: HALC engaged me to help streamline their operations. They chose an outside facilitator so all could participate and it would be easier to surface misunderstandings.
What we did: I led HALC leadership and staff through a full-day Collaborative Breakthrough Workshop in July 2026. The group named hopes and concerns, agreed on how they’d communicate, ranked five goals, and chose cross-team alignment as the top priority. Follow-up conversations then looked at what slows unit turnovers, including how instructions travel from leadership to the field.
What came out of it
What has already changed: Each maintenance technician used to own a property with no documented backup. HALC has since given every technician a dedicated backup partner, with a permission step for anything beyond that.
In their words:
“Rather than simply telling us what we should do, Susan guided us through a process that allowed us to identify solutions and discover the path forward together. That approach was both effective and empowering.”
Karen Rockwell, Executive Director, Housing Authority of Lincoln County
